Ways to help

We are always looking for volunteers, as well as new ideas and services to offer our community. Here is what is most useful.

Give what our guests need

These are the practical things we are asking for. New where it says new; clean and usable otherwise.

  • Coats and hatsCleaning out your closets? Bring us any coats or hats you no longer need and we will see they get to someone who needs them.
  • Socks and underwearNew, in all shapes and sizes. We make them available to our friends after they shower.
  • Travel toiletriesThe small shampoos and soaps you bring home from a hotel. We use them in our mobile showers.
  • TowelsClean towels of any size for use at the mobile showers.
  • Sleeping bagsFor guests who are sleeping rough, particularly through the colder months.

Lists change with the season and with what we already have. Our Facebook and Instagram pages carry the current list, or you can call and ask.

Volunteer

The Care Village is an opportunity to serve, and our volunteers — the Village People — offer their hearts as well as their time.

The Care Village is an opportunity to serve. We have a great time with friends, both old and new. We share a meal. We laugh and get to know each other better. We talk through ways to better serve our community.

Partner with us

Much of what the Village offers comes from local businesses and clubs giving their trade: a cafe feeding guests and volunteers, a salon cutting hair, a youth club gathering groceries.

If your business or organization could offer something similar, tell us who you are and how you would like to help. We are always looking for new ideas and services to offer our community.

  • Interact Club, a division of Scottsville RotaryFresh produce and pantry items, coordinated by local young people.
